Currently, the use of domestic import-substituting preparations of azelaic acid is important in order to improve the efficacy of treatment of patients with varying severity of acne, reduce the duration of treatment until clinical remission of the disease, and reduce the frequency and severity of side effects. Objective. The objective of this study was to assess the clinical efficacy and safety of Azelik (15% topical gel) compared to other formulations of azelaic acid in treatment of patients with mild to moderate papulopustular acne. Material and methods. We conducted open comparative study, which involved two groups of patients. The 1st group included patients with mild papulopustular acne (n=125), the 2nd group included patients with moderate acne (n=85). We assessed the dermatological status, measured greasiness and humidity of the facial skin, and performed pH-metry. Results. The action of Azelik is characterized by pronounced moisturizing effect, reduced sebum secretion by cutaneous sebaceous glands, normalization of pH of the skin, and low incidence of side effects. Conclusion. The obtained data show that Azelik can be included to regimens of the medicamentous therapy of mild to moderate papulopustular acne, which among other things implements import substitution of drug products and enhances the cost-effectiveness of treatment.
