Abstract:

Lichen sclerosus (lichen sclerosus et atrophicus, morphea guttata, white-spot disease, lichen albus Zumbusch, kraurosis vulvae, kraurosis penis) is a rare chronic inflammatory dermatosis of unknown etiology, which affects skin and mucous membranes. The article summarizes data on pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of this type of dermatosis. A clinical case of lichen sclerosus affecting the skin and oral mucosa is reported. Clinical manifestations are characterized by rash polymorphism (papules, plaques, blisters, and erosions). The diagnosis was confirmed by histological methods and dermoscopy. Complete description of dermoscopy and histological aspects is available. The authors emphasized the important role of dermoscopy in the diagnosis of the disease and the successful application of systemic glucocorticosteroid therapy.
