Abstract:

Early diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is of crucial importance for the prevention of its further progress and joint destruction. In the majority of the patients overt PsA develops many years after the onset of primary pathological process in the skin. Therefore, a dermatologist plays a key role in establishing the diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis; he detects the initial signs of the disease and refers the patient to a rheumatologist who prescribes measures designed to prevent irreversible lesions in the affected joints.
