Abstract:

Aim. To create the methodology of perioperative risk factors prognosis in aortic arch surgery with cerebral protection based on a retrospective analysis of data from our cohort of patients. Material and methods. In the department of aorta and its branches surgery of acad.B.V. Petrovskiy Russian Research Center for Surgery 71 patients with clinical diagnosis of «aortic arch aneurysm» were examined and operated with cerebral protection for the period from November 1998 to September 2011. We excluded all aortic arch interventions without brain perfusion. It was analyzed 91 potential risk factors to predict perioperative risk including 56 from EuroSCORE scale and 35 additional, specific for aortic arch surgery. Results. Multivariate analysis established 4 factors including patient’s age, presence of diabetes mellitus, the diameter of middle descending aorta and duration of systole (QTc) to predict the likelihood of death after aortic arch surgery.
