Abstract:

Efficacy of polyamide monofilament string (35 patients) versus steel wire (50 patients) for sternum osteosynthesis was comparatively analyzed in patients with coronary heart disease and obesity. It is proved that sternum osteosynthesis using caprone in comparison with traditional technique via wire is accompanied by lesser infectious complications after median sternotomy, less frequent sternum instability, limitation of inflammatory reactions with leukocytosis presentation, reduction of hospital length of stay, amount of antibiotic therapy and sternum pain in long-term postoperative period.
