Over the past decade, significant attention has been paid to the studies devoted to the role of gut microbiota composition and its metabolites (short-chain fatty acids, trimethylamine, gaseous metabolites, etc.) in pathogenesis of various non-infectious diseases caused by oxidative stress including cardiovascular diseases. Research of interaction of environmental factors (components of diet, medications, etc.), gut microbiota and host metabolism can lead to emergence of a new therapeutic target in the treatment of arterial hypertension, heart failure, atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases.
