A review of the main scientific fields in the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of the Cardiology NMIC is presented. The development of methods for the surgical treatment of coronary artery disease has been shown since the 80s, the priority substantiation of using autoarterial bypasses and microsurgical techniques in coronary surgery. The formation and improvement of the anesthesiology and intensive care department ensured the introduction of the most reasonable anesthesiology methods and intensive treatment in the postoperative period. The experience of more than 12 thousand successful on-pump operations indicates a high level of artificial circulation laboratory. The introduction of endovascular and hybrid surgery of the valves of the heart, aorta, and main arteries has identified advanced trends in the field of reconstructive surgery using up-to-date vascular and valve prostheses. The evolution of pacemakers and interventions for cardiac rhythm disoders can successfully cope with most life-threatening arrhythmias.
