Abstract:

Aim — to develop quality of life (QoL) questionnaire for patients with varicose veins of pelvis (VVP). Material and methods. Complaints and clinical symptoms of VVP were analyzed in 129 patients aged 18—62 years (mean age 33.5±6.7 years). Diagnosis was verified by Doppler ultrasound scanning. The first stage included survey of women in order to determine the main symptoms of disease. At the second stage respondents filled out a questionnaire where they indicated each of these symptoms. Results. Eleven the most common symptoms were noted. Pelvic Varicose Veins Questionnaire was created via assessment of the effect of symptoms on patient’s condition. QoL questionnaire for VVP reflects four main components of health: pain, physical and social activity, psychological well-being. Each of these components includes 5 questions which maximally disclose pathological changes associated with VVP related to certain factor of health. Conclusion. QoL questionnaire for VVP is simple and affordable way to determine QoL in these patients.
