Pain syndrome is one of the problems encountered in the early postoperative period following endovenous laser obliteration (EVLO). Pain intensity after laser irradiation at wavelengths on the order of 1000 nm is higher than at 1500 nm. The present study included two groups of patients who permanently wore medical compression hosiery (Venosan stockings) during 5 days (n=25) and 3 days (n=14). Pain intensity was estimated using a numerical rating scale. The dynamics of intensity of pain syndrome after EVLO using a 1030 nm laser was described by a sinusoidal curve. Pain decreased within the first 2-3 days and thereafter increased by days 5-7. It is concluded that the reduction of the total period of 24-hour wearing compressive hosiery from 5 to 3 days resulted in a statistically significant decrease in the intensity of pain syndrome in the absence of the enhanced risk of early recanalization.
