In the Russian Federation, despite the hasty growth of the amount of bariatric procedures, there is no transparent arrangement that would allowed long-term follow-up and evaluates of obesity surgical treatment results. The National Bariatric Surgical Registry (Bareoreg) was created in 2014 and has been developed and improved since on. This Registry includes 34 bariatric centers. Specific definite patients’ inclusion criteria make it possible to participate in the nationwide data audit. Core elements include patient’s primary screening and quality of life, surgical technique characteristic and long-term follow-up. One time in two years the data is verified for the compliance with the criteria of choice and the results are reported online. One of the important National Bariatric Surgical Registry’s options is the automatic weight loss dynamic parameters calculation (BMI, % EWL, TWL) and comorbid conditions stratification; the results can be represented in graphs and may be useful for technology efficacy evaluation. The authors believe reporting the results from the Registry have contributed quality of bariatric surgery improvement and made it possible to participate in the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) activity, conduct the nationwide audit which could be used to set up national quality standards of bariatric procedures.
