Goal. To identify risk factors resulting in hernias of the anterior abdominal wall. Materials and methods. The risk factors developed hernia of the anterior abdominal wall in 783 subjects from the database of a cross-sectional transient epidemiological study performed in June—July 2015 in the Kryukovsky village of the Borisov district of the Belgorod region (Kryukovo, Chulanovo, Zybino) were assessed. To determine which independent variables can explain the appearance hernias of the anterior abdominal wall, a logistic regression model is employed. The ratio of odds and the probability of occurrence hernia of the anterior abdominal wall was calculated, the contribution of these factors was quantified. Results. From 783 subjects hernia of the anterior abdominal wall (at the time of the examination or in the anamnesis), 164 cases were identified. Risk factors were present in 92.5% from examined people. Sex and heredity became predictors of inguinal hernia. For developed of umbilical hernia, a significant risk factor was sex. For postoperative ventral hernias, the main risk factor was BMI.
