Today the data which are available in literature are directed to assessment and stratification of risks of development of postoperative complications in the patients needing different types of a surgical intervention. So far it is not developed a uniform algorithm of stratification of risks of development of postoperative respiratory complications. Assessment of function of lungs and cardiorespiratory system in general plays role in stratification of risks perioperative pulmonary complications for patients undergoing planned or emergency surgical help. Postoperative respiratory complications reach 15 to 46% that is increased by a bed – day of stay in a hospital and postoperative mortality. Identification of patients with prognosticly high risk of development postoperative respiratory complications is important.
