From 2008 to 2013 fourteen patients (13 males and 1 female) with open abdominal trauma were operated by using laparoscopic approach. In 12 cases laparoscopic surgery was performed, in 2 patients conversion to laparotomy took place. There were no missed injuries and lethal outcomes in this study. None of the patients underwent laparotomy in the postoperative period. In 2 cases complications developed. Average length of hospital stay comprised 7,5 days. Analysis of results allows to make a conclusion that laparoscopy may be an adequate and safe alternative to laparotomy in selected cases, reducing the rate of diagnostic laparotomies, lowering morbidity, decreasing length of hospitalization.
