OBJECTIVE

To develop the methods of psychological rehabilitation and correction using interactive virtual reality system NIRVANA for individuals working under psychological risk.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The study included 30 medical workers who underwent preventive psychotherapy at the Petrovsky National Research Center of Surgery.

RESULTS

There were changes in functional parameters of cardiovascular system in most medical workers after working the night shift (increased systolic blood pressure by 5.6%, diastolic blood pressure by 7.8% and heart rate by 25%). Night shift work and prolonged psycho-emotional stress caused moderate fatigue of cardiovascular system. After 30-minute passive rest, BP remained almost the same as after the work shift, and HR decreased by 7.8%. After relaxation exercises individually selected using interactive virtual reality NIRVANA, all respondents changed functional parameters with their recovery to baseline or normal values. In 86% of cases, these changes were significant and averaged 2.2% (systolic blood pressure), 2.8% (diastolic blood pressure), and 12.4% (heart rate) of baseline values.

CONCLUSION

Relaxation exercises have a beneficial effect on functional status and accelerate recovery. They may be recommended as one of the means of relaxation and rehabilitation.
