Abstract:

Pelvic organ prolapse has long been one of the most urgent problems among elderly women both in the Russian Federation and worldwide, forming not only a severe physical but also emotional and psychological problem for patients, affecting the quality of life and limiting the ability to work. The article presents a review of scientific literature on the issue of genital prolapse in elderly and senile patients. Modern views on etiology, epidemiology and classification of genital prolapse, possible complications of severe forms of pelvic organ prolapse and tactics of patient management are considered.
