OBJECTIVE

Determination of risk factors of severe pre-eclampsia development in pregnant women with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The peculiarities of pregnancy course in 197 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were analyzed. Anamnestic data, peculiarities of the course and treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus before and during pregnancy, results of clinical and laboratory examination methods were analyzed. Preeclampsia severity was assessed on the day of delivery according to the final diagnosis.

RESULTS

The course of pregnancy was complicated by preeclampsia in 45 (22.8%) pregnant women, of which 20 (10.15%) had severe preeclampsia. There was a direct correlation between the severity of preeclampsia and blood glucose level.

CONCLUSION

The necessity of achieving target glycemic parameters in the I and II trimesters of pregnancy in order to prevent severe preeclampsia was substantiated.
