Objective — to evaluate the efficiency of combined therapy in patients with bacterial vaginosis concurrent with vulvovaginal candidiasis. Subjects and methods. The investigation enrolled 53 reproductive-aged patients with bacterial vaginosis concurrent with vulvovaginal candidiasis who were treated with a combined drug as suppositories involving metronidazole 750 mg and miconasole nitrate 100 mg. The criteria for treatment efficiency were cessation of clinical symptoms of the disease and normalization of laboratory findings. Results. The clinical and laboratory efficiency of therapy was 89%. The inadequate effectiveness or inefficiency of the therapy performed was recorded in 11%. The mean titer of lactic acid bacteria was 4.11 Ig CFU/ml and Candida fungus elimination occurred. Evaluation of the safety and tolerability of the drug recorded no serious side effects in the entire group. Conclusion. The combined drug involving metronidazole 750 mg and miconasole nitrate 100 mg showed its high efficacy in treating patients with bacterial vaginosis concurrent with vulvovaginal candidiasis.
