Objective. To optimize therapeutic modalities to treat reproductive-aged patients with cytomegalovirus infection (CMVI) of the urogenital tract. Subjects and methods. One hundred and seventy-six patients with small pelvic inflammatory diseases and the reactivated form of CMVI were followed up; 18 patients with cytomegalovirus monoinfection received therapy with the Russian antiviral drug panavir in conjunction with a combined intravenous laser blood radiation (ILBR) procedure using a laser therapeutic Matrix-ILBR device at a wavelength of 365 nm, power 2 mW (laser ultraviolet blood radiation (UVBR)) for 2 min, followed by an alternate-day other regimen - a wavelength of 530 nm, power 2 mW for 8 minutes. A total of 15 sessions were carried out. Antibacterial therapy was used in combination with panavir and the combined ILBR procedure in 127 patients with the reactivated form of CMVI and other urogenital tract infections. Thirty-one patients with the same coinfections had only bacterial therapy without panavir and ILBR. The investigation employed microscopic, bacteriological, and molecular genetic studies. Results. Combination therapy with laser UVBR and panavir in patients with the reactivated form of CMVI in the small pelvic organs showed a high efficiency - in 92% of cases.
