OBJECTIVE

Investigate the correlation between vascular reactivity in the gum area and nail fold in medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) patients taking antiresorptive drugs.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

Used high-frequency ultrasonic Dopplerography and functional tests. Examined MRONJ group (n=18) and control (n=15), considering age and drug history.

RESULTS

MRONJ patients showed reduced vascular reactivity in the gum area and nail fold. The Pearson correlation coefficient (r1=0.821) confirmed the connection between these parameters.

CONCLUSION

The study confirms the link between decreased vascular reactivity in the gum area and nail fold in MRONJ patients, potentially due to the systemic effects of antiresorptive drugs.
