The present questionnaire study was designed to interview dental practitioners for the elucidation of their attitude toward the removal of dental deposits for the prevention and treatment of periodontal diseases. It was shown that more than 92.0% of the respondents remove dental deposits for the prevention and treatment of inflammatory periodontal diseases giving preference to the acoustic and ultrasound techniques. Most widely used manual dental instruments are excavators applied in 82.1% of the cases whereas area-specific and universal curettes are used in 17.9% cases. The number of dentists using area-specific and universal curettes among those who attended the courses of advanced training in stomatology was much greater (31.6% of the total) compared with 14.4% among those who missed the advanced training.
