OBJECTIVE
To develop an algorithm for managing patients with heart failure as well as the most frequent and life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Data from domestic and foreign articles and guidelines on the management of patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and cardiac arrhythmias were used in this work. The search was carried out by the following keywords: chronic heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, supraventricular arrhythmias, ventricular arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, catheter-based arrhythmia treatments, sudden cardiac death, antiarrhythmic drugs. Materials published in PubMed, Cyberleninka, eLibrary, Scopus scientific databases from 2020 to 2024 were used.
RESULTS
An algorithm for treating patients with CHF and cardiac arrhythmias has been developed based on the data from domestic and foreign literature. The proposed algorithm includes modern methods of pharmacological and surgical treatment of this comorbid disease considering the risk factors for an adverse outcome.
CONCLUSION
Patients with chronic heart failure and cardiac arrhythmias represent a complex cohort, as they are characterized by a high risk of various complications including sudden cardiac death. The presence of a large amount of information about treatment of these patients creates difficulties in existing knowledge systematization and necessitates optimization of patient management strategies. Based on current guidelines and research, this paper presents the algorithm for managing patients developed by the authors using a risk-oriented approach. This algorithm will help to optimize patient management protocol in order to improve their clinical status and prevent complications.
