Congenital anomalies in children are an important sociomedical problem. Paramedical personnel, providing individual care and comprehensive rehabilitation, contributing to the improvement of children’s condition and social adaptation, play a significant role in patient’s care management.
OBJECTIVE
To study the relationship of professional characteristics and organizing the activities of paramedical personnel of rehabilitation units of specialized medical centers with improvement of health of children with disabilities.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
The study involved 364 questionnaires for assessment of the organization and quality of nursing activities, 278 questionnaires of the UWES-17 employment scale, 196 questionnaires for evaluation of the social and hygienic living conditions of the child and 196 PEDI scales of rehabilitation assessment. Survey of the paramedical staff and patients of rehabilitation units of the National Children’s Medical Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan, National Center for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics of the Republic of Uzbekistan and U.K. Kurbanov Republican Children’s Psychoneurological Hospital was performed in 2020—2022. Sanitary and hygienic, sociological and statistical methods were applied.
RESULTS
According to the results of survey of parents of 196 children with congenital anomalies, positive impact of rehabilitation on the child’s physical condition has been noted by 73.47±3.15% of respondents, and on psychological — by 37.76±3.46%. The paramedical personnel, 98.9% of whom are women, has high workload and psychological burden. Professional activity takes 87.50±1.51% of working time, while only about 30% of nurses are satisfied with the level of computerization and Internet access. Absence of proper rest and poor working conditions lead to increased fatiguability, reduction of involvement and performance.
CONCLUSION
In order to improve the efficiency of nurses’ work and the quality of rehabilitation of children with congenital anomalies, it is necessary to optimize the organization of working hours, providing conditions for a proper rest. In addition, there should be regular continuing education, greater involvement of nurses in treatment and rehabilitation planning, as well as enhancement of their interaction with patients and families on the issues of care and effectiveness of activities.
