Introduction. Excessive use of the Internet in adolescents is often accompanied by the development of psychosomatic disorders — recurring pain syndromes and other comorbid conditions with a high risk of their transformation into chronic psychosomatic pathology, which indicates the relevance of this problem. Aim — to study the incidence and clinical features of comorbid psychosomatic disorders in adolescents of Krasnoyarsk with various types of online behavior. Material and methods. 3035 teenagers of Krasnoyarsk (45.9% of boys and 54.1% of girls) aged from 12 to 18 years (average age — 14.5±1.3 years) were examined from January to May 2019. Features of online behavior were assessed with using Chen’s Internet Addiction Scale (CIAS). Analysis of comorbid psychosomatic disorders (recurrent headaches, abdominal and spinal pains) was carried out in 3 groups: with adaptive, non-adaptive and pathological use of the Internet. Results. Adaptive use of the Internet is typical for 50.6% of adolescents in Krasnoyarsk, non-adaptive use — for 42.6% and pathological (Internet-dependent) one — for 6.8%. Incidence and patterns of comorbid psychosomatic disorders were associated with a type of online behavior. Internet-dependent behavior was associated with frequent recurring pains (headaches, abdominal, spinal). Rare pain was more often experienced by adolescents with non-adaptive, and the absence of pain — with adaptive use of the Internet. The total prevalence of frequent (chronic) headache was 4.4%, episodic — 33.4%, cephalgia was absent in 62.3%. Frequent abdominal pain was registered in 11.7% of adolescents, rare — in 45.8%, the absence of pain — in 42.5%. Frequent back pain was noted in 18.2% of adolescents, rare — in 39.1%, dorsalgia was absent in 42.6% of adolescents. Internet addiction in adolescents correlated with a more pronounced intensity of pain. Conclusion. The prevalence of Internet addiction in adolescents of Krasnoyarsk, the high degree of its comorbidity with psychosomatic disorders confirm the relevance of the problem and indicate the need for further research to optimize the prevention of health disorders associated with Internet-dependent behavior in the adolescent population.
