Abstract:

Objective - to study the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors (RFs) among students aged 18 to 24 years. Material and methods. A total of 2000 medical Health Center cards were retrospectively analyzed. Cardiovascular RFs were also analyzed. Results. The prevalence of physical inactivity was 58.6%; that was 13% higher in girls; stress was observed in 37.5%, that was 1.4-fold more common in girls (p<0.001); overweight and obesity was in 10 and 3%, respectively; these were 1.8- and 1.7-fold more frequently in male students; hypercholesterolemia was detected in 7.7%. There were 7% of active smokers; males smoked twice more than females (p<0.001). An elevated office blood pressure was noted in 4.8%, that was 3.4 times more commonly in males (p<0.001). Hyperglycemia was observed in 0.7%. Conclusion. The study could estimate the prevalence of RFs among students.
