Abstract:

Objective. To determine the frequency of external genital endometriosis and to evaluate the results of surgical treatment in patients with aplasia of the uterus and vagina. Material and methods. In a prospective cohort study we included 15 patients with aplasia of the uterus and vagina, which were treated in the department of operative gynecology of «Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology» from 2013 to 2015.The 1st group consisted of 5 patients with aplasia of the uterus and vagina and concomitant external genital endometriosis, the 2d group consisted of 10 patients without endometriosis. Results. The frequency of external genital endometriosis in patients with aplasia of the uterus and the vagina was 33.3%. We revealed the endometriotic lesions on the pelvic peritoneum in cases of nonfunctional rudimental horns. In 5 cases because of pain syndrome we performed the excision of rudimental horns. Conclusions. Retrograde menstruation followed by implantation of endometrial cells on the pelvic peritoneum was not the cause of development of external genital endometriosis in all women with aplasia of the uterus and vagina.
