OBJECTIVE

To evaluate clinical effectiveness and patient satisfaction with diluted Radiesse injections and Light&Bright procedure in correction of chronological skin aging and photoaging of the face and décolleté.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

Pilot open prospective randomized clinical study with immunohistochemical analysis involved 42 healthy females aged 35—45 years with skin phototype Fitzpatrick type 1-2 and initial and middle stages of photoaging (Glogau type 1-2). Patients were divided into 3 groups (1:1:1): group 1 — four Light&Bright procedures with an interval between procedures of 1 month; group 2 — 4 procedures with an interval between procedures of 1 month and 2 injections of diluted calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) (Radiesse) with an interval of 3 months; group 3 — a single dose of diluted CaHA. The primary endpoint was patient satisfaction (GAIS score). Secondary endpoints included morphological assessment based on collagen type I, III and elastic fibers.

RESULTS

There were higher clinical effectiveness and patient satisfaction after diluted CaHA injections and Light&Bright procedure as evidenced by morphological analysis.

CONCLUSION

Open-label prospective pilot randomized clinical trial confirmed higher clinical efficacy (lifting effect) and patient satisfaction following combined use of diluted CaHA injections, narrowband pulsed light technologies (Selective Waveband Technology — SWT) and Frax 1550 non-ablative fractional photothermolysis (Light&Bright procedure) in patients with signs of chronological skin aging and photoaging of the face and décolleté.
