OBJECTIVE

To develop the optimal management of patients with complications after breast augmentation with polyacrylamide gel.

MATERIAL AND METHODS. T

He study consisted of 3 appropriate patients between 2020 and 2022. Age of patients ranged from 31 to 35 years. Redo surgery was carried out within 6-24 months after injection of gel. In all cases, injections were carried out in foreign hospitals (Turkey, Ukraine).

RESULTS

Polyacrylamide gel causes severe complications in patients that greatly complicate other techniques in these patients. Polyacrylamide gel is not only unjustified for breast augmentation but even dangerous regarding aesthetic and functional points of view. Silicone implants result favorable aesthetic and functional outcomes. There were no adverse events including implant rejection. When comparing these cases with primary implantation without gel, we can talk about significant advantage of primary placement of silicone implants.

CONCLUSION

Polyacrylamide hydrogel injection procedure for breast augmentation can cause various complications and subsequent surgery. Mastodynia, breast deformity and imitation of neoplasm are the most common. A thorough examination with physical and instrumental methods, in particular ultrasound and MRI is necessary. Timely removal of gel eliminates symptoms, and subsequent silicone implants lead to good and excellent aesthetic results.
