Every year, the world registers more than 225.000 new cases of ovarian carcinoma, among of which there were nearly 140.000 deaths. Despite the progress made in the diagnosis of ovarian carcinoma, bout 75% of new-onset cases occur in Stages III and IV of the disease. At the same time, the five-year survival rates in Stages III and IV are about 24% and 4.6%, respectively. One of the unresolved problems in ovarian cancer is peritoneal carcinomatosis that accompanies 65—70% of cases of the disease and determines an unfavorable prognosis in the vast majority of cases. The problem of standard combination treatment is the inefficiency of existing drug therapy regimens, which leads to a rapid recurrence of peritoneal carcinomatosis after primary cytoreductive surgery. Pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC) can be used to increase a cytotoxic effect on peritoneal metastases. The paper describes a clinical case of ovarian cancer, in which a combination of surgical cytoreduction with one PIPAC session and subsequent systemic chemotherapy during a single-hospital stay was used for the first time.
