Abstract:

Capsular contracture is one of the most common complications occurring after breast implant replacement. The main causes of capsular contracture are hematoma formation, the nature of the endoprosthesis surface, as well as infection, a patient’s propensity to form keloid scars, macro and microtrauma, smoking, etc. The paper describes a clinical case of grade III capsular contracture (according to the classification proposed by J.L. Baker) in a patient receiving combination treatment for breast cancer in the presence of prolonged seroma. The phenomena of the latter were observed within 4 weeks after surgery and 9 months after beam therapy. Against this background, the patient developed clinically pronounced capsular contracture a year after reconstructed breast radiation, which was the reason for a second operation.
