Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most common malignant neoplasms in women. In recent years, investigators have focused increasing attention on the need to correct subjective symptoms of the disease in patients and their emotional perception, which reduce their social and professional adaptation. Objective — to comparatively analyze the effects of 3-hydroxypyridine and succinic acid derivatives (emoxipin, reamberin, and mexidol) on the self-assessment of nonspecific clinical symptoms in the early period after surgical treatment for BC. Material and methods. A short-term prospective placebo-controlled single-blinded randomized trial was conducted to investigate the impact of 14-day use of emoxipin (150 mg daily intravenously), reamberin (1.5% 400 ml/day intravenously), and mexidol (300 mg/day intravenously) on trends in the self-assessment of clinical symptoms (according to the M. Anderson Symptom Inventory (MDASI) and emotionally linked complaints (according to the Giessen Subjective Complaints List (GSCL)) in patients with BC in the early period after surgery. Results. Two-week administration of emoxipin, reamberin, and mexidol during the standard therapy decreased the magnitude of postoperative pain, as shown by MDASI scores, and GSCL scores in the domains «exhaustion» and «pressure of complaints». Conclusion. The short-term use of emoxipin, reamberin, and mexidol in addition to the standard therapy substantially reduces the magnitude of postoperative pain and considerably diminishes emotionally linked physical complaints in the early periods after surgery.
