Firmagon (Degarelix) (Ferring Pharmaceuticals) was tested in 30 patients with localized or locally advanced prostate cancer. No serious adverse reactions or side effects were found. None of the patients discontinued treatment because of allergic reactions to the drug. The findings did not greatly differ from the known data available in the literature. In all the 30 patients, the serum PSA level during the follow-up period was less than 1 ng/ml and the values of testosterone, luteinizing hormone, and follicle-stimulating hormone were equal to the castration values and blood biochemical indicators (alkaline phosphatase, calcium, phosphorus) were in the normal range.
