In December 2019, the first cases of pneumonia of unknown etiology emerged in Wuhan, China. Later, the pneumonia has been associated with the new coronavirus. In February 2020 the World Health Organisation (WHO) named a new disease COVID-19 and the virus causing it was named SARS-CoV-2 by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV). By 11th of March, 2020, once the virus spread in more than 114 countries and resulted in 118,000 confirmed cases and a death toll of 4,000 the coronavirus outbreak has been declared a pandemic by the WHO. By the time of writing this article (April, 16, 2020) the virus has infected more than 2 millions and killed approximately 134 thousands people. In this review we summarize the current information about origin and spread of the SARS-CoV-2. We also review epidemiology, diagnostic, clinical features and treatment of COVID-19.
