The emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which has led to the advent of a difficult epidemiological situation, marked a new period in the history of medicine. The rapid spread and high mortality rates of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 required optimal solutions to the challenges posed to the healthcare system. In this regard, effective molecular diagnostics methods were of particular importance among measures to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19. Taking into account the urgency of the problem, related to quick and accurate conduct of diagnostic tests, that aim to detect a new coronavirus infection, optimization of this process remains an important task. In this study, we compare two methods of molecular laboratory diagnostics of SARS-CoV-2 — RT-PCR and SmartAmp, that are currently being used at The Loginov MCSC MHD.
