Analysis of syphilis morbidity and pregnancy outcomes in women who had or have syphilis is relevant because of its negative effect on progeny. Aim. To assess outcomes of pregnancy in women who had or have syphilis. Material and methods. We used data from federal statistic observations № 9 and 34 in Russian Federation from 2012 to 2017. Mathematical, analytical and descriptive methods of statistical analysis were used. Results. For the analyzed period, the number of unfavorable outcomes of pregnancy in women who had or have syphilis decreased. Number of women who were diagnosed with syphilis in the second and the third trimesters increased (12,6 times and 7,5 times respectively), which contributes to the development of multi-organ changes in the fetus and morphologic and functional disorders in children, which decrease their adaptation capabilities and negatively affect further quality of life. At the same time, slowing down the rate of decline in share of congenital syphilis from the number of live births resulted in increase of this index. Conclusion. Results of this analysis indicate the need for informing pregnant women and those who are planning pregnancy about possible effect of syphilis on pregnancy and childbirth outcomes.
