Abstract:

A floating thrombus in aortic arch represents a rare but highly dangerous disease with significant risk of systemic embolism resulting in ischemic stroke, critical ischemia of abdominal organs and limbs. This article presents successful surgical removal of a giant floating thrombus from aortic arch using cardiopulmonary bypass and circulatory arrest under moderate hypothermia. The results highlight the efficacy of active surgical approach for this rare and dangerous condition.
