Abstract:

Timing of revascularization for severe stenosis of VI segment of vertebral artery is discussed. Conclusions of modern guidelines regarding this issue are presented. The authors present 2 clinical cases of successful emergency stenting of VI segment of vertebral artery in acute period of vertebrobasilar ischemic stroke. One clinical case of unsuccessful stenting followed by hemorrhagic transformation and death is presented. The reasons of this outcome are indicated. Conclusions were drawn about efficacy and safety of this treatment strategy for ischemic focus in vertebrobasilar basin not exceeding 2.5 cm.
