Abstract:

Objective. To analyze the effect of meglumine sodium succinate as a hemodilution agent on the condition of patients during on-pump myocardial revascularization and in early postoperative period. Material and method. A retrospective comparative study enrolled the main group (meglumine sodium succinate, n=10) and control group (n=4). Results. The use of meglumine sodium succinate as a hemodilution agent during on-pump myocardial revascularization is advisable to stabilize intraoperative condition of patient. It is accompanied by increased resistance to hypoxia and reduced cytolysis. Positive effects of hemodilution with meglumine sodium succinate in cardiopulmonary bypass also include improved patient’s condition in early postoperative period (reduced inflammatory response and restoration of platelet population). Thus, risks of stenoses of the grafts and hemorrhagic complications are reduced. Larger prospective controlled trials are required to confirm the results and positive effect of meglumine sodium succinate in on-pump cardiac surgery.
