Abstract:

Aim. To identify the predictors of ineffective strategy of consequent sinus rhythm restoration after mitral valve replacement and «Maze» procedure using clinical and echocardiographic data. Material and methods. The study included 118 patients (62 women and 56 men, Mean age was 49.5±10.5 years) who had mitral valve defect and atrial fibrillation. Results. Time of «arrhythmic history», age and left atrial volume significantly effect the probability of atrial fibrillation in 2 weeks after surgery. In 1.2 months after cardiac surgery ineffictive sinus rhythm restoration is predetermined by time of «arrhythmic history» and left atrial volume. In case of cardioversion after 1.5 months and catheter radiofrequency ablation after 6 months ineffective sinus rhythm restoration is predetermined only by time of «arrhythmic history». Conclusion. Time of arrhythmic anamnesis is the main factor of ineffective sinus rhythm restoration that should be considered in selection of patients with heart valve prostheses for sinus rhythm restoration.
