Abstract:

Aim - to assess our own experience in treatment of coronary artery disease complicated by mitral regurgitation. Material and methods. This research presents a retrospective analysis of 351 patients with coronary artery disease and various degree of mitral regurgitation. All patients underwent surgery with predominant correction of mitral regurgitation for the period December 2005-December 2013. Patients were divided into 2 groups depending on the severity of mitral regurgitation. The first group included 249 patients with mitral regurgitation III-IV, the second group - 102 patients with mitral regurgitation I-II. Results. There were 19 and 7 in hospital unfavorable outcomes in both groups respectively. The completeness of survey within 8-year follow-up was 245 of all discharged patients. Mean follow-up was 65.9±12.4 (33-94) months. 59 patients died within observation. Actuarial 8-year survival was 74.5±8.7%. 92% of patients were in II (I, II) functional class on the average. Five patients required mitral re-operation after previous mitral valve repair. 39 patients after CABG alone had the same or improved mitral regurgitation. In 13 cases mitral insufficiency was increased within 8-year follow-up. Conclusion. Current surgical correction of ischemic mitral regurgitation improves the prognosis and survival in these patients.
