Abstract:

It was analyzed the frequency of contrast-induced nephropathy and acute kidney injury after transcatheter aortic valve replacement surgery. 77 elderly patients who underwent transcatheter aortic valve replacement surgery with femoral or apical approach were included into the study. Median age was 76 years. Augmentation of glomerular filtration rate after surgery was observed in 29 (37.7%) patients. 3 (4%) patients hadn't changes in glomerular filtration rate. Decrease of kidney function was diagnosed in 34 (44%) patients. Acute kidney failure was revealed in 14.3% of cases. Risk factors for acute kidney failure and acute kidney injury during transcatheter aortic valve replacement surgery are discussed. The role of contrast in acute kidney injury development is presented. Aspects of drug, infusion and replacement kidney therapy including problems of acute kidney injury prevention are discussed.
