Abstract:

It was analyzed the value of platelet indices in patients with coronary heart disease after coronary bypass surgery on a beating heart. It was shown that reducing of platelets number is associated with an increasing of platelet indices. It means an increasing of platelets width, mean platelets volume, the number of large platelets in peripheral blood. Increased platelet indices are compensatory in response to a decrease of platelets number and it is indicating intensification of thrombocytopoiesis. Determination of platelet indices in cardiac patients by using of automated hematology analyzers permits to analyze morphological characteristics of platelets and state of thrombocytopoiesis.
