Abstract:

Results of clinico-economic analysis of the completed part of Safety Zone Project regarding preventive treatment with enoxaparin (ENX, 6 113 cases) and unfractionated heparin (UFH, 2944 cases) in real practice among moderate and high VTE risk groups are presented. VTE events occurred more frequently in UFH group vs ENX group (3,06% и 1,34% respectively; OR 0,43; ARR 1,79%; RRR 56,8%). Hospitalization cost of VTE cases in the UFH group was 2,36 times higher and VTE treatment in this group was 2,31 times higher vs ENX (calculated per 100 patients receiving prophylaxis). Total of the prevention costs for ENX and UFH did not differ despite the lower utilitarian cost of UFH. Cost-effectiveness ratio was slightly better for ENX (by 2,46%) and expenditures for non-effective prevention were lower than for UFH. The expertise results demonstrate economic disadvantages of changing ENX for UFH in the VTE risk group after surgery.
