Aim. To improve the histological diagnosis of early gastric cancer and identify possible relationships between histological structure and localization (body and antrum) of the tumor with lymphovascular invasion. Material and methods. Archival histological specimens of surgical and endoscopic material of superficial T1 gastric cancer were analyzed. We determined the differentiation of the tumor G1—G4 and detected lymphovascular invasion using immunohistochemical study. Results. Significantly higher lymphovascular invasion is more typical for tumors of the stomach body, carcinomas with differentiation G2 and G3 and papillary carcinomas. Conclusion. Further refinement of histological criteria for endoscopic curability is necessary for accordance with localization and differentiation of tumor.
