OBJECTIVE

To study the effectiveness of radon therapy and high-intensity magnetic therapy in spa treatment of chronic dyscirculatory encephalopathy stage I.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

We followed-up 90 patients with dyscirculatory encephalopathy stage I. They were randomized into 3 groups. In the 1^st control group (n=30), patients were prescribed to take mineral water from Pyatigorsk spring #7, radon baths and massage of collar zone. In the 2^nd control group (n=30), patients took mineral water, collar zone massage and procedures with a pulsed magnetic field (AMIT-02 device). In the main group (n=30), patients took mineral water, radon baths, procedures with a pulsed magnetic field and collar zone massage. To assess therapeutic effectiveness of treatment complexes, all patients underwent clinical, laboratory, functional tests, psychological testing and analysis of quality of life before and after treatment. After 6 months, 50% of patients were surveyed regarding long-term results.

RESULTS

Treatment was followed by better overall status and positive dynamics of clinical signs of disease, neurophysiological indicators and quality of life. These changes were more obvious in the main group.

CONCLUSION

Magnetic therapy combined with radon baths contributes to synergetic effect due to unidirectional action of therapeutic factors. This potentiates positive therapeutic effect and prolongs the aftereffect period. This treatment allows improving the quality of life, extending their professional longevity, eliminating progression of process and severe vascular complications.
