Abstract:

The paper deals with the possibilities of using the plant-based antiviral drug Panavir to treat patients with cytomegalovirus, papillomavirus, and herpes infections and tick-borne encephalitis and to prepare women for conception, who are at high risk for activation of these infections during pregnancy. The author provides a literature review on the spread of viral diseases, pays attention to their diagnosis, and unveils the risk of their manifestations and complications. The paper considers the specific features of antiviral protection and presents current possibilities for treatment options. Particular emphasis is laid on that the use of immunotropic drugs, interferon, and its inductors is a necessary adjunct to conventional pathogenetic treatment. The current plant-based drug Panavir is able to enhance the body’s nonspecific resistance to infections and the induction of interferon and to stabilize tissue and humoral immune parameters. Clinical trials have indicated that Panavir is well tolerated and exerts no mutagenic, teratogenic, carcinogenic, allergenic, or embryotoxic effects, it is an effective drug to prevent and treat cytomegalovirus, papillomavirus, and herpetic infections and tick-borne encephalitis and may be also used in women at high risk for activation of these infections during pregnancy.
