Dentists identify the following reasons for the loss of fillings: the service life has expired, violation of treatment standards, improper dental care. The list of reasons also includes defective tooth filling technology, in which the contact point is broken.

THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

To improve the technology of tooth filling on the contact surfaces of premolars and molars in caries.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

A clinical and instrumental examination was conducted in the age group of 20—44 years: according to the localization of caries and the presence of fillings on various surfaces of premolars and molars 256 patients: women — 164 (64%), men — 92 (36%) and 60 patients: women — 38 (63%), men — 22 (37%) after restorations with matrices of the contact surfaces of the lateral group of teeth (premolars — 32 (38%), molars — 52 (62%) with a diagnosis of caries (K 02), divided into 2 subgroups: 1st (26 people) — metal contour matrices — 12, sectional matrices with a retaining ring — 6, contour metal sectional matrices — 8; 2nd (34 people) — restoration of approximal surfaces of teeth by the author’s matrix. The assessment of restorations visually and instrumentally separately on surfaces was evaluated immediately after restoration and after 1 year.

RESULTS

1. The most frequent localization of the carious process of premolars and molars on the approximal (contact) surfaces is 48.3±2.0% of cases. 2. Comparative analysis of matrices 1 year after restoration showed the advantage of the author’s matrix: less violation of the contact point, marginal fit and the development of secondary caries at its low cost.
