Abstract:

Spontaneous cerebrospinal rhinorrhea is one of the rare diseases. It is commonly supposed that the cause of this condition cannot be reliably defined. The paper describes the experience with CT diagnosis of spontaneous liquorrhea nasalis, as well as an algorithm for examining patients with this condition. Diagnostic images are analyzed in detail and the specific features of the structure of the ethmoid bone, which might affect the occurrence of cerebrospinal rhinorrhea, are described. The investigators have evaluated the paranasal sinuses in all the patients with spontaneous liquorrhea nasalis and diagnosed meningocele, mucocele, and space-occupying lesion, which caused destruction of bone structures and liquorrhea.
