PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

To assess the relationship between the levels of type 1 endothelin (ET-1) and total nitric oxide (NOx) metabolites and blood pressure (BP) in young and middle-aged people working in conditions of industrial noise exposure.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

Under observation were 120 workers of one of the metallurgical plants of the Nizhny Novgorod region — men aged 25 to 51 years old, who were exposed to industrial noise in the course of their work, as well as men (34 people aged 28 to 52 years old) working outside the impact harmful production factors. In blood serum, the concentration of ET-1 and the content of NOx were determined.

RESULTS

High levels of ET-1 in the blood serum and low levels of the NOx/ET-1 ratio were found in workers exposed to industrial noise with a high normal level of blood pressure and arterial hypertension.

CONCLUSION

Indicators of endothelial dysfunction type 1 endothelin and nitric oxide can be proposed for use as biomarkers of the risk of developing arterial hypertension in young and middle-aged people working in conditions of industrial noise exposure and for monitoring the state of the cardiovascular system during therapeutic and preventive measures., as well as in the development of new strategies for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
