An analytical review of the dynamics of morbidity and mortality in the population of the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) was carried out on the basis of official data from Rosstat in the context of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation (RF) from 2019. The following indicators were analyzed: mortality in working age, including by main classes of causes ; health care financing; volumes of free and high-tech medical care; provision of medical personnel for medical prevention institutions (MPI) and organization of prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases (CNCD). Mortality at working age in the North Caucasus turned out to be the lowest, which is, first of all, a reflection of the relatively low incidence of CNCD and their complications. Mortality among men in the North Caucasus is 1.5—2 times, and among women — 2—2.5 times less than in other districts of the Russian Federation. Among the causes of death in the North Caucasus Federal District, diseases of the circulatory system occupy the first place, since every second fatal incident is associated with complications of cardiovascular events (myocardial infarction and cerebral stroke). The second place is occupied by neoplasms, the frequency of which turned out to be 3 times less than the frequency of diseases of the circulatory system (CSD). In the North Caucasus Federal District, indicators for the main classes of causes of death are lower compared to the average parameters of the Russian Federation. The highest mortality from CSD was registered in the Stavropol Territory and North Ossetia, while in Ingushetia, Dagestan and Chechnya this figure is 3 times lower. The actual volume of free medical care provided to the population under the territorial programs of state guarantees in 2018 in the North Caucasus Federal District turned out to be 17% less compared to the established standard, and compared to the average indicators of the Russian Federation — by 32.6%. In terms of the number of health centers for adults, the North Caucasus Federal District ranks last among all federal subjects of the Russian Federation. Despite the fact that the size of the adult population in the North Caucasian (9.866.8 thousand) and Far Eastern Federal Districts (8.188.6 thousand) is generally comparable, the number of health centers differs by 2 times: 19 and 35, respectively. At the same time, the number of people who learned the basics of a healthy lifestyle in these federal districts turned out to be comparable.
