Abstract:

Based on a performed large-scale monitoring, the author provides the detailed characteristics of the spread of, motives for smoking, and its first attempt among 15—17-year-old urban adolescents, the pupils of secondary schools from six Federal Districts, in 2011. The age ranges of the boys and girls who started to smoke are described. A gender comparison of smoking spread and motivation was made among the urban senior pupils in 2000 and 2011. The validity of a considerable reduction in the spread of smoking among the senior pupils in 2001 is clearly demonstrated and statistically proven.
